La République (an ode to Mila & Farid)
A political and metaphorical representation that questions the identity of a nation in crisis. A nation that has become hostage by its own values due to the wrong visions and decisions of its leaders. It is also about the illusions of a better future, the confusion and the dysfunction of a multicultural society when facing the "enemy within".
I heard someone saying that France could not be “ruled” anymore.
This work (which is a direct reaction to the Charlie Hebdo shooting in Paris on 7 January 2015) condemns every religion that threatens the liberty of expression and is dedicated to the great Mila and Farid Smahi who are raging “against the dying of the light”.
It was lately updated following the decapitation of teacher Samuel Paty.
